Rationale:
The goal of the 2021 Symposium is to analyze the impact of new technologies in support of stereotactic radiotherapy, with a particular focus on the new online adaptive radiotherapy (autocontouring, real time tumor tracking, plan adaptation, surface guidance and new professional skills). All these technologies have significant impacts both on the effectiveness of the treatments and on the patients’ workflow, and consequently on thebasic skills necessary for the professionals accompanying them during the treatment. The Symposium aims to bring together various professionals involved in the treatment of radiotherapy patients. Radiation oncologists, medical physicists, radiation therapists, and radiation nurses will discuss the reliability of new systems, how they affect patient care, and their implications in the distribution of workloads. Thanks to UPMC’s international stature and vast clinical experience, this event represents a great opportunity to disseminate scientific knowledge on important techniques used to treat oncology patients across Europe and worldwide.
